I’m Alexander Jacobi, a portrait & documentary photographer and PhD Candidate in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I took up portraiture to get out into the world and meet people who deserve to have their stories told, even if it is communicated with nothing more than a glance. Through my photos, I hope to immortalize those fleeting moments of connection that all too quickly pass us by.

I have three ongoing photo projects: ‘The Student Body’, where I document life at Wilfrid Laurier University through portraits of students, staff, and faculty; ‘Local Colour’, which features images of cultural festivals around the KW area; and ‘Artisan Ontario’, where I converse with and photograph Ontario makers and creatives.
